In 2009, compared to 2008, total number of accidents intervened by fire units increased by 3 %. The decrease is visible in all type of incidents with the exception of technical accidents, which increased by 13 %, and false alarms, where a mild increase of 1 % was recorded.
In 2009 fire units directly rescued 9,699 persons in operations, and other 24,545 persons evacuated.
