Graduate Employment Opportunities at Secondary Fire School (SOŠ PO)

 

Form of Study: full-time education

Duration of Study: 4 years

Completion of Study: Final examination (Absolutorium)

Language of Instruction: Czech language

Optional Foreign Language: English, German or Russian

A graduate can find employment in the following professions:

· Fire Protection Units: as part of service in fire protection units;

· Special Services Technician: as a technician of special services in fire protection units;

· Fire Prevention: in the field of fire prevention;

· Crisis Management: in the area of crisis management and population protection;

· Professional Subjects Lecturer: as a lecturer of professional subjects in the field of fire protection;

· Qualified Professional: can work as a qualified professional in the field of fire protection, performing this activity for legal entities or self-employed individuals, or in independent business with a trade license for technical-organizational activities in fire protection.

Upon successful completion of this program, graduates may continue their studies at the Higher Professional School of Fire Protection or, after successfully passing the admission process, may be accepted to study at universities, specially at the Faculty of Safety Engineering at VŠB-TU in Ostrava. After completing their studies at the Secondary Fire School, students perform the following professional activities:

a) Applies the provisions of legal norms governing activities under the jurisdiction of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic:

· Implements the fire protection management system during organizational and operational management;

· Manages and uses the basic documentation and records of the fire protection unit;

· Knows, observes, and applies the rights and obligations of a member and the obligations of natural and legal persons in the field of fire protection;

· Knows the theoretical foundations of fire protection and adheres to them;

· Acquires and applies the basic principles of population protection and crisis management in their activities;

· Applies knowledge of principles, main tasks, and activities in the field of fire prevention in their activities;

· Applies knowledge of the performance of state administration and self-government in the field of fire protection in their activities;

· Acquires basic principles of fire safety of buildings and technologies.

b) Performs Standard Tasks Assigned to Fire Protection Units:

· Handles typical service-related tasks independetnly or as part of a team.

· Carries out designated activities under normal and challenging conditions when dealing with various types of emergencies.

· Utilizes information and communication technologies within organizational and operational management.

c) Performs activties set by internal regultions of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic:

· Controls activities set by the Training and Combat Order of fire protection units (e.g., drill training, technical training, fire team training, tactical intervention procedures, etc.);

· Knows the organization of the fire protection communication service (e.g., regulations for radio communication, communication at the intervention, signaling and alarm devices in fire protection, etc.);

· Uses and operates fire protection equipment (e.g., work gear and armament, technical means, fire accessories, pumps, fire extinguishers, mobile fire technology, etc.);

·  Adheres to principles set for individual activities of professonal and special services in fire protection.

d) Ensures the operational readiness of the technology used within the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic:

· Reads necessary data from technical documentation;

· Knows the properties of technical materials;

· Understands the design of fire technology used in the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, its equipment, and accessories;

· Knows and can use all technical means used in the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, including their maintenance;

· Manages and organizes the maintenance and repair of technology used in the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic;

· Utilizes various information sources in work activities, e.g., technical drawings and diagrams found in device and machine operating instructions, service manuals, guides, etc.
